2023-24 TAMFT STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ELECTIONS
The TAMFT Elections Committee is currently seeking nominations and applications for service as the Student Representative on the future Board of Directors. The candidate must be willing to serve for two years: one year as the President-Elect of TSAMFT and one year as President of TSAMFT and Student Representative on the TAMFT Board of Directors. We are accepting applications and nominations through September 15, 2023.
You must be a current, active student member of TAMFT in good standing or renew/join TAMFT before completing your application to serve. Join or renew here. It is also strongly encouraged that you be a student for most of your term.
WHY HAS THE PROCESS CHANGED?
Typically, the student election process was limited, where the President-Elect and all other TSAMFT board members were nominated and voted on only by attendees of the annual conference. This new process will empower more members (and particularly our younger members) to get involved and have more of a say in how we shape our policies and the future of TAMFT going forward.
WHY APPLY?
This is your chance to demonstrate your service and commitment to the field you're about to join. By taking an active role in your future, you gain leadership experience, strengthen your communication skills, and expand your network of therapists all over the state of Texas and beyond. Most importantly, you become part of a larger conversation about what it means to be an MFT in Texas and how you can effect change before you are even out of school.
WHAT'S THE TIME COMMITMENT?
We understand that being a student takes up valuable time. You can expect this position to take no more than 5 hours a month.
This newly elected member will take office in the fall of 2023 and serve an almost 2-year term:
- Half year: President-Elect of TSAMFT (Fall 2023 until the 2024 Annual Conference in April)
- One year: President of TAMFT and Student Representative of TAMFT Board of Directors (in 2024)
