Private Equity in Behavioral Health Care: Risks, Opportunities, and Ethical Decision-Making for Clinicians
Speaker: Samuel A. MacMaster, PhD
Cost: Members: Free | Non-Members: $30
1.0 CEU

About the Webinar:

Private equity investment in the behavioral health care field is rapidly reshaping the landscapes of private practice, group practice, treatment programs, and even government and agency work. For therapists and clinical leaders, this shift introduces both new opportunities and significant ethical, operational, and regulatory challenges.

This webinar provides a balanced, practice-informed examination of private equity in mental health care. Participants will explore how private equity models function, where they can increase access and scalability, and where they may introduce risk to clinical integrity, workforce sustainability, and quality of care.

Special attention will be given to the real-world decisions that clinicians face, whether regarding employment, leadership roles, partnerships, or competing with private-equity-backed organizations. The presentation will also address regulatory considerations, including licensure and interstate practice implications, and offer practical strategies for identifying red flags and building sustainable, ethically grounded alternatives.
