2026 TAMFT BOARD OF DIRECTORS ELECTIONS

The TAMFT Elections Committee is currently seeking nominations and applications for service on the 2026 Board of Directors. Nominations and applications have been EXTENDED until 11:59 PM on Tuesday, February 24, 2026.

You must be a current, active member of TAMFT or renew/join TAMFT prior to completing your application in order to serve on the Board of Directors. Join or renew here.

Newly elected Board members will take office at the annual conference in the spring and serve a 2-year term.

The following positions are up for election:

  • Secretary
  • Member-at-Large (multiple positions may be open)
  • Associate Representative
  • Student President-Elect (will be Student Representative on the 2027 Board of Directors)

ABOUT THE POSITIONS:


SECRETARY:

The Secretary is part of the executive committee, attends all board meetings as a voting member, is responsible for the official board meeting minutes, and serves as the governance committee chair. As governance committee chair, the Secretary runs elections, along with the elections committee chair (a governance committee member), reviews and assigns committee volunteers, and maintains board and committee rosters.

Estimated time commitment: 2-hour board meetings every other month, 1 hour per committee meeting every month (or as needed).


BOARD MEMBER-AT-LARGE:

The Members-at-Large attend all board meetings as voting members and represent the general interests of TAMFT membership. As with all board members, each Member-at-Large is expected to serve as Board Liaison on at least one other TAMFT committee and to report the committee's operations to the Board.

Estimated time commitment: 2-hour board meetings every other month, 1 hour per committee meeting every month (or as needed).


ASSOCIATE REPRESENTATIVE:

The Associate Representative to the Board of Directors attends all board meetings as a voting member and represents the interests of LMFT Associates and new professionals. As with all board members, the representative is expected to serve on at least one other TAMFT committee as a Board Liaison and report the committee's operations to the Board.

Estimated time commitment: 2-hour board meetings every other month, 1 hour per committee meeting every month (or as needed).


STUDENT PRESIDENT-ELECT:

The Student President-Elect will serve a 2-year position: President-Elect of TSAMFT in 2025, President of TSAMFT, and Student Representative for the TAMFT Board of Directors in 2026. This person serves as the Student Liaison for committees, attends TSAMFT meetings, and reports on business and information pertaining to the assigned committee and the tasks completed for TSAMFT. 

Estimated time commitment: 1-hour TSAMFT meetings every other month (in 2026), 2-hour board meetings every other month (in 2027), 1 hour per committee meeting every month (or as needed).

You'll connect with like-minded professionals, build relationships within the broader community, and gain insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the field of marriage and family therapy.

Most importantly, you'll have the chance to shape the organization's strategic direction, influence policy decisions, and collaborate with fellow professionals to enhance the quality of services provided to individuals, couples, and families in Texas.
