About the Webinar:

From the early days of psychological diagnosis, personality disorders and the traits that mark them have largely been accepted as lifelong, chronic, and separate from disorders like MDD, GAD, and PTSD. From 1980 to 2013, the DSMs III and IV included them on a separate axis, reinforcing clinical recognition of their unique and persistent pathology. As MFTs and systemic therapists, however, we exist in tension with this idea. We hold a fundamental belief that all behavior makes sense in context - that symptoms are never JUST pathological but also uniquely informative. This webinar will dig into belief-level elements that underpin pathological personality traits, focusing on clinical recognition of, and interventions (drawn from IFS, CPT, and SBFT) for, sustained progress in clients with complex trauma and clinically significant personality pathology.
